Epoxy Adhesives & Compounds Manufacturing — Standard Project Report

Prepared by the Global Formulation team

Feasibility & Financials 1–3 Investment Configs Plant & Machinery 5-Year Model Funding-Neutral
A feasibility and financial project report for setting up an epoxy adhesive and compound unit in India — a plant that disperses bought-in epoxy resin with fillers and additives (the "A" part), blends bought-in hardener with its own fillers and accelerators (the "B" part), and packs the two as matched kits: two-part epoxy adhesive (general, rapid-set, structural), epoxy repair putty, epoxy anchor-fix and rebar-grouting cartridge, epoxy tile / stone adhesive, and — at larger scale — electrical potting compound and civil structural epoxy. The epoxy resin and the hardener are both bought in; there is no resin synthesis and no cure in the plant. This is distinct from the Epoxy Floor Coating report on this store — that report covers coatings laid over floor areas and sold by the litre; this one covers adhesives and compounds sold in small kits, cartridges and sachets to the assembly, electrical, construction-fixing and repair trades. Presents three independently costed investment configurations — a ₹2.11 crore low-investment unit making epoxy putty and general 2K adhesive only (6,00,000 kg/yr; project IRR ~31.4%, hard grade ceiling), a ₹5.81 crore standard small-scale unit (7,80,000 kg/yr — the anchor; adds rapid-set, structural, anchor-fix cartridge and tile / stone adhesive with a vacuum planetary disperser, automatic cartridge lines and a QC lab; project IRR ~26.8%, payback ~3.7 years) and a ₹25.98 crore expanded automated plant adding electronics potting / encapsulation and civil structural epoxy. Includes India epoxy resin and adhesives market analysis with cited sources (India epoxy resin USD 730.7 mn 2025, ~6.3–7.0% CAGR), the dispersion-and-blend process at unit-operation level, plant & machinery lists with indicative costs, raw materials by functional class, infrastructure, manpower, the statutory roadmap, and a 5-year financial model on a 100%-own-funds basis. Does NOT include manufacturing formulations, recipes, mix ratios, filler loadings, raw-material specifications or grades, brand names, or supplier lists. Cost basis September 2026, Tier-2 Indian industrial location. Indicative figures for preliminary planning; not financial, legal or technical advice.
The Opportunity

Epoxy Adhesives & Compounds Manufacturing in India — what the report covers

Epoxy adhesives and compounds are the two-part kits that bond, anchor, pot and repair where a strong, gap-filling, chemical- and heat-resistant joint is needed — the structural adhesive that joins a metal frame without welding, the steel-filled putty that repairs a cracked casting, the cartridge resin that anchors a bolt into concrete, the compound that encapsulates a transformer coil. A plant disperses bought-in epoxy resin and blends bought-in hardener, and packs the two as matched kits; it does not mix or cure them.

Market at a glance

India's epoxy resin market was USD 730.7 million in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 1,120.7 million by 2032 at a 6.3–7.0% CAGR (Persistence Market Research / Market Research Future), with paints and coatings about 54.7% of it and adhesives & sealants and electrical & electronics the other major application segments. The wider India adhesives market is USD 3.07 billion in 2025 growing to USD 4.58 billion by 2031 at a 6.88% CAGR (Mordor Intelligence). The fastest growth is in electrical / electronics potting and in infrastructure repair and strengthening; the general-adhesive and putty segment is mature and value-competitive.

Manufacturing process

Dispersion of the resin part, blending of the hardener part, and matched-kit packing, with no cure in the plant — resin, filler, thixotrope and pigment are dispersed and de-aerated in a vacuum planetary disperser (or sigma mixer for putties) and finished on a bead mill; the hardener, its own filler, accelerator and a contrast pigment are blended in a strictly segregated vessel; each part is QC-tested (mixed-sample gel time and exotherm, Shore D, lap-shear on steel, anchor pull-out on concrete) and the two are dual-filled at the matched ratio into syringes, tubes, pots, cartridges or putty sticks.

Key statutory point

A solvent-free, effluent-free dispersion-and-blend operation is expected to fall in the CPCB Green or lower-Orange category (stated as an inference by analogy, not a citation naming epoxy-adhesive manufacture), with hazardous-waste authorisation for the amine / epoxy-contaminated cleaning and off-spec waste the main consent point; some anhydride and amine hardeners are scheduled hazardous chemicals above threshold (confirm MSIHC applicability for the specific hardeners), and specified post-installed-anchor and EN 1504 structural products need multi-year approvals (ETA / ICC-ES) that are not a start-up requirement.

Investment Configurations

3 independently costed setups

ConfigurationTotal fundsCapacityOperating model
Low-Investment Unit ₹2.11 crore 6,00,000 kg/yr Epoxy repair putty + general 2K adhesive only — sigma / planetary mixer, SS blend vessels for the two parts, manual / semi-auto tube / sachet / twin-pot filling and stick moulding, basic QC; hardware / repair / retail-private-label trade. No vacuum planetary disperser, bead mill or automatic cartridge line, so it cannot make structural, anchor-fix or potting grades. IRR ~31.4% (higher than the anchor) but a hard grade ceiling
Standard Small-Scale Unitanchor ₹5.81 crore 7,80,000 kg/yr Adds rapid-set, high-strength / structural, anchor-fix cartridge and epoxy tile / stone adhesive — a vacuum planetary disperser and change cans, a bead mill, a segregated hardener-blend bay, dual (A/B) volumetric filling for syringes / tubes / pots, a coaxial cartridge line, and a QC lab with a lap-shear rig and an anchor pull-out frame; construction-fixing + industrial assembly + hardware supply
Expanded / Semi-Automated Unit ₹25.98 crore 36,00,000 kg/yr Adds electrical / electronics potting & encapsulation (vacuum-potting clean area) and civil structural epoxy (crack injection, CFRP laminate bonding) — automated multi-format filling and kit-packing lines and a full lab with environmental ageing and EN 1504 conformance testing; own brand + electronics-assembly / infrastructure-repair / industrial contracts, owned plot — a growth step above the MSME band

Total funds required = cost of project + working capital, on a 100%-own-funds basis. Each configuration is costed bottom-up from a researched equipment list, premises basis and manpower roster — not scaled from one another. The report is funding-neutral: it makes no assumption about how the promoter raises the capital.

Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the Epoxy Floor Coating report?

No. The Epoxy Floor Coating report covers coatings — solvent-free floor coating, self-levelling epoxy, screed binder and primer — laid over large floor areas by an applicator and sold by the litre in pails and drums. This report covers adhesives and compounds — bonding, anchoring, potting and repair — sold in small matched kits, cartridges, twin-tubes and sachets to the assembly, electrical, construction-fixing and repair trades. They share their two bought-in raw materials and a similar dispersion process, but the product, pack format, customer and margin structure differ.

Why can the low-investment unit only make putty and general adhesive?

Because the structural, anchor-fix, tile and potting grades need equipment the Low unit does not have: a vacuum planetary disperser and bead mill to make a smooth, void-free filled paste, and an automatic dual (A/B) cartridge and syringe line to fill matched kits at the correct ratio, plus a QC lab with a lap-shear rig and an anchor pull-out frame to substantiate the strength claims a buyer qualifies against. A simple sigma mixer and tube filling are adequate for hand-kneadable putty and general two-part adhesive only.

The low-investment unit has a higher IRR than the anchor — should I just do that?

Only if you specifically want the repair and putty trade. The Low unit's IRR (~31.4%) beats the anchor's (~26.8%) because it is capital-light and avoids the vacuum-disperser and cartridge-line investment. But that return comes with a hard ceiling: it is a putty-and-general-adhesive business, it cannot pursue anchor approvals or EN 1504 structural conformance, and it cannot reach the structural, anchor and potting grades where the margin and growth are without rebuilding as the Standard unit.

What does an epoxy adhesive & compound plant cost?

Three configurations. A ₹2.11 crore low-investment unit (6,00,000 kg/yr; putty + general 2K only; project IRR ~31.4%, hard grade ceiling); a ₹5.81 crore standard small-scale unit (7,80,000 kg/yr — the anchor; adds rapid-set, structural, anchor-fix cartridge and tile / stone adhesive; project IRR ~26.8%, payback ~3.7 years, break-even 36.5% of capacity); and a ₹25.98 crore expanded automated plant adding electronics potting and civil structural epoxy — above the MSME band, a growth step. Epoxy resin (import- and oil-price-linked) is 45–60% of the raw-material cost.

Will this report give me the formulation?

No. Standard Project Reports are feasibility and financial studies only. Raw materials are described by functional class (e.g. "anionic surfactant"), never by grade, trade name or supplier. For production-ready formulations, see the matching Global Formulation handbook.

How are the investment figures arrived at?

Each configuration is costed bottom-up from researched equipment, premises and manpower — not scaled from a single template. The report presents the total funds required (cost of project + working capital) on a 100%-own-funds basis; it does not assume or advise on how you raise the capital.

What format is it and how do I get it?

A PDF, delivered by instant download link the moment payment is confirmed, and kept in your library. Up to 5 downloads are included.

How current are the costs?

The cost basis is August 2026, benchmarked to a Tier-2 Indian industrial location against public marketplace listings and MSME project profiles. All figures are indicative and must be verified with vendors and professionals before you commit funds.
